Five Apprenticeships Myths!

Our fourth installment of NTA Fives clears up those typical apprenticeship myths! You'd be surprised how beneficial apprenticeships can be, and how far they can take you.

MYTH 1: Apprenticeships are only available in the manual labour industry.

FALSE!

Apprenticeships are available in all industries!

Apprenticeships have grown enormously in recent years and are for anyone who enjoys hands-on learning and wants an alternative to further education.

So if you’re looking to earn and save money instead of spending it, apprenticeships could be a better alternative to university and a more secure way of entering the world of employment.

MYTH 2: Apprenticeships are only for training and won't lead to a full-time job.

FALSE!

As many as 85% of apprentices will stay in employment, with two-thirds (64%) remaining with the same employer.

One in three (32%) of all former apprentices received a promotion within a year of completing their apprenticeship, whilst three-quarters (75%) stated that they were given more responsibility in their role.

MYTH 3: Apprentices are just school leavers brought into organisations for an extra pair of hands.

FALSE!

It is an assumption that many people tend to make when thinking about an apprenticeship and unfortunately, a lot of people believe it but it’s not true!

Apprenticeships are for anyone who enjoys hands-on learning and they are an EQUAL alternative to university.

So if you’re looking to earn and save money instead of spending it, apprenticeships could be a better alternative to university and a more secure way of entering the world of employment.

MYTH 4: Apprenticeships are only for young people aged 16-18.

FALSE!

The government will fund any employee aged between 16-65 on a suitable apprenticeship programme. You're never too old to learn something new!

Check out our course directory to see the variety of courses we offer.

MYTH 5: Apprenticeships are just for employees needing basic, entry-level skills.

FALSE!

In fact, apprenticeship programmes can range from level 2 (GCSE equivalent) right through to Masters equivalent level 7. Here at NTA, we believe they are such a great pathway to get some high-level qualifications under your belt, as well as the work experience you gain along the way.
